The Ryan Kerrigan Leukemia Golf Classic takes place each spring, bringing together local businessmen and women as well as the members of the Washington Redskins for a day of golf in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) mission. The LLS mission is dedicated to helping to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improving the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS provides fee information and support services about leukemia and lymphoma and they offer significant funding to lifesaving blood cancer research around the world. Each year, the Golf Classic sponsors a child or patient hero, whose story inspires and reflects the LLC’s mission to find a cure and improve the quality of life for patients and families.

This year the Golf Classic is honoring Isiah, a sixteen-year-old leukemia survivor. Isiah is currently a high school junior at St. Albans School in Washington DC. While enjoying sports and being involved in the Boy Scouts of America, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in May 2014. Isiah will undergo treatment until November 2017. Since being diagnosed with ALL, Isiah has shown courage and determination in beating leukemia and returning back to his everyday routine, where he can play sports again. He has taken the time to make new friends who have been diagnosed with cancer as well and shares his experience battling this disease in order to help families and patients who are also diagnosed adjust to the treatment and life style changes.
