This Tuesday, the AtlasAdvancement team headed to the INOVA donor location in Dulles to donate blood as a way to give back to our community this holiday season. Although donating blood is always a good thing — more than 4.5 million people need a transfusion in the US and Canada each year — our office was prompted to help fill this ongoing need by a recent blog post from Glennon Doyle Menton of Momastery (and college friend of Jon Bartlett) in which she introduces Mathias, a remarkable boy from Northern Virginia who is not just battling cancer but is also catalyzing others to fight for awareness and a cure. Mathias sadly passed away earlier this month, but his strength and his passionate advocacy for blood drives inspired us. We think he’ll inspire you as well.
